Michael Vollmer

Division Vice President – DaVita Discovery Division

Michael Vollmer serves as the Division Vice President of the DaVita Discovery Division, and has been with DaVita for over 3 years.  He is responsible for managing Kidney Care operations in the Missouri and Arkansas markets.  He currently oversees ~$225M P&L across 54 in-center 15 home units.  Michael also sits on the Village Labor Committee and leads labor for the Apex Operating Group.  Michael has been instrumental in redeveloping the labor training models and labor guidance for FY 2019.

Michael joins DaVita from Ascension where he served as the Director, Innovations Accelerator Team.  Some of his accomplishments at Ascension include:

  • Led a nationwide initiative that successfully launched and operationalized the first synchronous Online Care capability of any hospital system in the United States;
  • In partnership with Coventry and the largest physician practice in Kansas, negotiated the first ever payor-based insurance coverage for web-based primary care visits;
  • Successfully launched a nationwide healthcare finance and travel company and achieved a nearly 20% ($15MM est.) reduction in year-over-year costs through successful implementation of process improvement and change management initiatives for the world’s largest Catholic Health System.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Olin Business School.   He also attended the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA).

Michael has lived in the St. Louis region for nearly 36 years.  Despite a rigorous schedule working, teaching and promoting youth educational opportunities, Michael loves spending time cycling, attending the Fox Theater & St Louis Symphony, finding new coffee shops or restaurants, and just enjoying some downtime with his two Scottish Terriers (Booker and Scout). He also enjoys sailing when he can and says he grills a pretty tasty steak.
