Reimagining Education

CEAM President, Brian Murphy, Responds to NAACP Moratorium on Charter Schools

On October 15, 2016, the NAACP passed a motion at its annual meeting calling for a moratorium on the expansion of charter schools. The move has caused some to wonder why the organization would move against an educational model that has helped millions of low-income students and students of color over the past 25 years.

Last Sunday morning (10/23/16) Brian Murphy, CEAM’s Board Chair, discussed the moratorium and cleared up some misconceptions about charter schools with KMOX News Radio 1120.

CEAM believes a student’s right to an education should include all high-quality options that will meet their needs. When families have educational options they feel empowered to make a school choice that meets the needs of their children. To learn more about CEAM’s policy principles, go here.
