CEAM – Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri is a hiring a fulltime Communications Manager.

CEAM is working to improve Missouri’s K-12 education system by promoting education policy ideas that support parental choice, transparency and accountability, and effective teaching. Through parent engagement, public awareness and advocacy, CEAM is reimagining education in Missouri by promoting and working toward education policy change.

As the leading education reform organization in Missouri, CEAM develops and executes innovative parent engagement and policy leadership programs that train parents on best practices for legislative and administrative policy change. CEAM develops and distributes original content through multiple channels and collaborators and aggregates and distributes education policy reform news and information. Our public relations, media and marketing campaigns support the passage of innovative education policy solutions and the development of our growing parent and community engagement networks.

The Communication Manager develops, plans, and executes multi-channel communication strategies and tactics in conjunction with the entire team. The position is responsible for:

  • managing and growing Facebook and Twitter audiences along with other social media,
  • the development of original written content for print and web-based communications,
  • development and production of constituent communications, tracking effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics, and
  • creating new marketing and communications materials and programs.

The Communication Manager will support and execute a variety of live events for constituency building and fundraising and will support development initiatives including live events, foundation grant applications and individual donor appeals.

The ideal candidate for this position will complement the skill sets of other CEAM team members and contribute to the positive office and work environment, will have a strong interest in educational issues, the required skills to manage communication efforts, and the interpersonal skills to be part of a diverse and dedicated team of staff, students and volunteers.

Understanding education reform policy issues and knowledge of education reform efforts are essential to have or learn quickly.

This position works closely with the existing team and reports to the associate executive director.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies and projects.
  • Identify, monitor and grow key constituencies.
  • Manage the planning of special events.
  • Execute daily communication through social media, manage social media accounts, and analyze social media growth.
  • Write and post original content for organizational website.
  • Research education policy and aggregate education policy news.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors.
  • Prepare media materials for distribution.
  • Coordinate production and implementation of appeals.
  • Manage donation process and acknowledgments
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate database records.
  • Contribute perspective and ideas to organizational projects.

Preparation and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in executing (and an understanding of best practices for) social media and digital communication plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum Bachelor-level degree in a related field.
  • Experience in nonprofit development including grant writing and events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Database management experience.
  • Experience with NationBuilder, QuickBooks, and WordPress strongly desired.
  • Experience with video recording and editing is strongly desired.

Compensation: This is a full time, salaried position with benefits.
